MDA AVAZ Reader - an assistive reading app for a reader with learning difficulties
Fluent reading eludes children with Specific Learning Difficulties. A child undergoing remediation is taught coping strategies to read, however continuous support during every instance of reading may not be possible.
MDA Avaz reader is based on well researched and successfully implemented practices. These strategies are available on-demand for any textual material to be read, reinforcing all facets of reading-decoding, fluency and comprehension. This app is an educational resource and a productivity tool for struggling readers.
MDA Avaz Reader has been developed by MDA in collaboration with Invention Lab- an IIT Madras Alumni venture using cutting edge technology. The app uses state- of- the-art technology, works largely off-line and is available Apple devices and on the simplest Android device, be it a tablet or a mobile, making it affordable.
As this app uses the OCR technology to translate the text captured as picture into a readable format, it can be used to read any printed material – newspapers, textbooks and story books.

MDA Avaz Reader is reader-centric. It offers customizable settings to suit the needs of the reader and offers multi-sensory strategies to develop independent reading skills in children with Specific Learning Difficulty. It is aimed at providing continuous support to a child with dyslexia-playing the role of the supportive teacher even in her absence.
